Nestled in the King Valley, in Victoria’s High Country, is the tiny hamlet of Whitfield. And the heart of Whitfield is the Mountain View Hotel, an upscale country pub whose clientele come from near and far. Now the Mountain View is growing. In collaboration with Foolscap Studio, Ha have designed new boutique accommodation to service weekend travellers keen to explore the local gourmet food and wine scene. Each of the ten hotel suites enjoys framed views towards the adjacent native bushland and golf course — and beautifully crafted interiors by Foolscap. For the Ha practice, this project has been an enlightening investigation into a repeatable and sustainable model for regional tourism. Due to start construction in 2026.
