The majority of the structure is dedicated to production; the last two structural modules have been assigned to a timber-clad tasting room. This incision in the shed envelope allows northerly sun to permeate the hospitality area, while providing views to the remarkable geography of the Hazards and the coastline beyond. Externally, the Windspray colouring allows the building to sit harmoniously in a landscape where earth meets sea and sky. Stay tuned, Furneaux Distillery opens to the public very soon.

On the rugged coastline of Flinders Island, Tasmanian Tom Ambroz is distilling some of Australia’s best spirits. As one of the few hospitality offerings on the island, Furneaux Distillery further consolidates Tasmania’s burgeoning spirit industry. Maritime whiskies with salt spray-infused local peat, and gin infused with Flinders-foraged native botanicals — all distilled (and served) in a bespoke, utilitarian shed. Eco Truss’ laminated timber portal represents Ha’s first mass-timber build.
