The pavilion at Shimmerlands, a new festival program at the University of Melbourne, played a crucial role in establishing a physical identity for the event. The precinct is underutilised during summer, giving Shimmerlands the opportunity to reconnect the University with the local Melbourne community. Running for just two months of the year, Ha embraced the temporality of the brief. More than just a pavilion, this project represents the ‘building’ of community and culture through an event. The festival functions as an outdoor cinema and music venue, both day and night.
